Why Photography?

I got into photography as a creative outlet for myself. I was always interested in art, specifically graphic design. At some point when I was a little kid, I thought about become a graphic designer and possible creating cartoons or video games. The problem with that is that I never had the skills in drawing (at least I thought).
One of my earliest memories that I can think of with photography is back in the MySpace days. Like most people I was always trying to get the best profile picture even if that means taking my own self portrait.
At the time, photography was one of the many ways for me to express myself creatively. I get to choose the subject and control the camera to try and capture what I envisioned. I get to capture many memories and emotions. A picture of the smallest thing can have a big impact.
I didn’t get my first “official” camera until December 2017. Before that I would take photos with whatever phone I had or camera I could get my hands on at the time. When I got my camera I had extra free time I was trying to use up wisely as my new job was not as demanding. I was taking a lot of photos with my phone, then decided it was time to take it further and to the next level. I wanted more control and quality. Many of the things I wanted to photograph would not be as great with a phone such as wildlife and long exposure photos.
